About us
Yankee Farmer's Market was developed to provide consumers with healthy, delicious, non-tampered-with meat; meat you can sink your teeth into without having to worry about the detrimental effects of an unnatural, polluted, inhumane product.
Our hope in developing Yankee Farmer's Market is to put agriculture back into the hands of the small, local farmer. We are not interested in mass producing our animals, biologically engineering our animals, or leaving them in unhealthy, inhumane environments as some of the larger farms do.
Many of our customers value our respect for our animals and the quality of our products and have chosen to add Yankee Farmer's Market to their daily regimen.
In 1998 Yankee Farmer's Market was formed to provide consumers with local, naturally raised meats. In September of that year, at the ripe age of 24, we sold our car to buy our first five buffalo. Our parents and friends thought we were crazy, but we wanted to provide delicious buffalo meat to whoever wanted it.
As of 2023, our stock has grown to include Buffalo, Scottish Highlanders & Pastured Pigs. We now operate three farm locations, sell to hundreds of retailers, ship meat nationwide, operate our retail location in Warner, operate a Buffalo Concession Business, and help others get into farming.
For over twenty seven years, we have been involved in educating, producing, and distributing buffalo meat.
Yankee Farmer's Market is located in beautiful Warner, New Hampshire. We regained old pastureland and offer our customers the opportunity to visit our farm and purchase our buffalo meat and other naturally raised local products. We average about 50 buffalo, some of which are kept in Warner and Hillsborough NH.
In addition to selling Buffalo meat products to families, markets, and restaurants all across the country, we also sell live buffalo to farms and support entrepreneurs on their own farms. We also offer a buy-back program for those interested in farming buffalo. For more information, please contact us at Yankee Farmer's Market.
Learn about our Innovative Heavy Use Area on the farm. Our project aims to demonstrate effective heavy-use areas for bison that can be replicated in this growing industry throughout New Hampshire and the Northeast.
Looking for help on a farm project, fencing installation, or heavy-use area? Contact us today for assistance with Project Management, Consulting, and Installations.
We also sell wholesale to co-ops, restaurants and stores. See our product locator page to find our products around NH and New England.
As you may have read in our Why Buffalo? section, all of our buffalo are naturally fed and raised free-range. Our wide variety of buffalo meat products - from burgers and steaks to jerky and sausages - DO NOT contain growth hormones, stimulants, or antibiotics. And we guarantee that all of our products will arrive on your doorstep when shipped anywhere in North America.

Our Commitments
The Farmer family is dedicated to land and animal stewardship. We have been in the buffalo industry for 28 years.
Our farm is clean, efficient, friendly, respectful, joyful and fun. We take pride in our farm and enjoy building relationships and serving every visitor.
Our pastures give the animals plenty of room to roam. They eat a natural diet of mixed grasses and fresh water from that land. They are rotated to different pastures and lands to assure proper regeneration of the soil.
Our animals are free to roam, graze, socialize, live and breathe as any herd in nature intended. They are athletes that live peaceful lives, breed naturally, grow to maturity and are humanely handled from birth to harvest. The animals travel a short distance to an abattoir and the loading area is designed specifically to keep the animals at ease.
We believe in and strive for the highest standards of meat being hormone, antibiotic, pesticide, GMO and chemical free. They are USDA inspected and professionally cut and packaged to assure utmost freshness. We utilize as much as we can of the animal, leaving little waste and respecting every animal.
Our Warner, NH based retail farm store provides all cuts of our meat as well as many other meats and products from local farms and businesses in the NH and New England area. We actively encourage and promote these products to support our local community.
We partner with other sustainable farms and specialty food companies and we consider local based on quality, availability and season. A local movement can reach far and wide complementing those sharing responsible food and farming practices. This includes embracing accountability, quality, care and transparency for all farm visitors.
We constantly share our message online, at the farm, at local events and face-to-face to assist in educating the public around food systems and farming.
Promotion of keystone species and heritage breeds for holistic stewardship of animals and land.
Our farms offer immersive educational experiences for the community to learn, connect and collaborate for a better tomorrow.
We partner with and support Holistic Roots, a 501 c(3), Abenaki Helping Abenaki and other like-minded nonprofits and organizations who promote healthy living, regenerative practices, experiential education and symbiotic relationships of all living things.
Members of the National Bison Association and active participants in the Bison 1 Million campaign, we are proud to be participating in the active restoration of the bison population in North America, with a goal of 1 million strong by 2027.
